2026 Asian Games continues to have Cricket as part of its calendar making it the fourth time that cricket will feature.
2026 Asian games in Japan will see cricket retained.
Cricket will participate in the Asian Games for the fourth time. The games were not given international status the first two editions, in Guangzhou (2010) and Incheon (2014). However, the matches were classified as T20 internationals when cricket made a comeback at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
In 2023, India took first place in the men’s division, followed by Afghanistan in second place and Bangladesh in third. In the women’s division, Sri Lanka took home the silver medal, while India and Bangladesh once again took home the gold and bronze. Pakistan, Nepal, the Maldives, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Japan, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia were among the other nations that took part in the two divisions.
“The latest development in the compilation of the sports programme came at the 41st meeting of the AINAGOC Board of Directors at Nagoya City Hall on Monday, April 28, when cricket and Mixed Martial Arts were both formally approved,” the OCA said.
In addition, T20 cricket will be a six-team event in both the men’s and women’s divisions at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. However, the certification requirements are still unclear.
