[Saba Sports News] After the Phoenix Suns’ victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, Suns guard Devin Booker shared his thoughts on facing his ex-teammate Deandre Ayton, who now plays for the Blazers. The game, held at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, saw the Blazers initially lead 2-0 due to Ayton’s early layup. However, the Suns quickly gained the upper hand, ultimately winning 120-107.
This game marked Ayton’s first against the Suns since his off-season transfer to Portland. Ayton, an Arizona University product, delivered an impressive performance with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Responding to inquiries about competing against Ayton, Booker, a three-time All-Star, observed Ayton’s heightened aggressiveness against his former team. He encouraged Ayton, 25, to consistently bring this level of intensity to every game.
“It’s fun… He played extra hard tonight. I’ve seen that. My challenge for him is to play like that every night,” Booker commented.
While Ayton’s abilities were never doubted during his time with the Suns, his performance fluctuated throughout the season. Prior to his move to the Blazers, tensions seemed to be rising between Ayton and the Suns’ management.
Despite any residual tension, Booker expressed a desire to see Ayton succeed in his new role with the Blazers.
