[Saba Sports
News] According to British media reports, the English Football Association (FA)
is currently attempting to naturalise Obi-Martin, a talented young player from
Arsenal’s U16 team, to represent England. Martin was born on November 29, 2007,
and he will turn 16 next week. Previously, in a match where Arsenal U16
defeated Liverpool U16 with a score of 14-3, Martin scored 10 goals by himself.
This year, Martin has played for both the England and Denmark youth teams.
Additionally, due to his father being Nigerian, Martin also has the option to
join the Nigerian national team, but currently, he is playing for the Danish
youth team. In response to this, Jasper Mikkelsen, the head coach of the Danish
U17 team, stated, “He is not restricted to staying in Denmark. After you
have played the current matches, you can choose to change your national team
affiliation once. I’m not worried about it because we won’t take any action
regarding this.” It is reported that Martin and his family have agreed to
the idea of him continuing to play for the Danish national team. However, if he
decides to change his mind at some point, it will certainly be beyond Denmark’s
control.
