[Saba Sports News] After suffering a thrashing defeat at the hands of India, the Pakistan cricket team received criticism from all over the world as the Men in Green failed to show any kind of fight at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
However, the former legendary Pakistan pacer, Wasim Akram, criticized the team’s skipper Babar Azam, not so much for his captaincy and performance but for his post-match meeting with Virat Kohli.
A video went viral on social media in which Kohli was seen giving his signed jersey to the Babar after Pakistan’s seven-wicket win loss to India in the 2023 World Cup.
Akram did not like the act of Babar receiving the jersey on the ground and criticized him for the same.
“Everybody is showing this clip over and over again. But after your fans are so hurt after a disappointing performance, this should be private matter, it should not be done in an open ground. That’s what I exactly said when I saw the picture [getting the jersey publicly, not privately],” Akram said on A Sports.
Akram continued to slam Babar, saying, “Today was not the day to do this. If you want to do it – if your uncle’s son has asked you to get Kohli’s shirt – then do it after the game in the dressing room.”
In the game against the Rohit Sharma-led side, Pakistan scored 191 runs while batting first in 42.5 overs. Babar alone gathered 50 runs off 58 balls and was the highest scorer for Pakistan. India comfortably chased down the target in 30.3 overs with the help of glorious knocks by Rohit and Shreyas Iyer, who scored half-centuries.
After the loss versus India, Pakistan will next play against the five-time ODI World Cup winners, Australia, in Bengaluru on 20th October.
