[Saba Sports News] Former Tamil Nadu cricketer and coach DJ Gokulakrishnan, who passed away on October 11, had a 12-year domestic cricket career representing Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Goa.
After retiring as a player, he became a BCCI match referee and later took on coaching roles. Gokulakrishnan worked as an assistant coach for Tamil Nadu and was a talent scout for the Chennai Super Kings.
Ravichandran Ashwin, a renowned cricketer from Tamil Nadu, paid tribute to Gokulakrishnan in an Instagram story, calling him a ‘wonderful person’ and recalling fond memories from their time together on tours with the Tamil Nadu state team.

Ashwin expressed his shock and sorrow over Gokulakrishnan’s passing and described him as his first bowling coach and a source of support during tough times.
Chennai Super Kings, the IPL franchise, also released a statement honoring DJ Gokulakrishnan’s contributions. The cricketing community, including current and former Tamil Nadu players, extended their condolences to his family.
