[Saba Sports News] As the biggest clash of the 2023 World Cup nears, Jasprit Bumrah talked about the sight of India playing against Pakistan on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
The hometown boy Bumrah, who is leading the Indian pace attack, will play his first-ever ODI in Ahmedabad. In the post-match press conference after India’s win over Afghanistan, the fast-bowler was asked about the same.
Sharing his feeling of getting to play in his home ground versus Pakistan in front of 1,30,000 fans, Bumrah in his limited words talked about the excitement quotient.
He also revealed that meeting his mother is the first thing on his to-do list when the team lands in Ahmedabad.
“I’ve been away for a while now. I’ll be happy to see my mother at home. I’m going to see her. That’s the first basic thing for me,” Bumrah was quoted as saying.
“It’s obviously playing at home. I have not played a One-Day International there. I played a Test match. So yeah, the atmosphere is going to be exciting. I’m sure a lot of people are going to come. So, it will be a sight to see. So yeah, hoping for the best over there,” he added.
Bumrah further stated that the pressure of India versus Pakistan clash has not forced the side to prepare any differently than how they usual do. He emphasised the importance of playing as per your own strengths, asserting that if they do this, results will follow.
“See every team will have batsmen, every team will have bowlers. We also have batsmen; we also have bowlers. We’re not preparing any special for any special team. Yes, we’re looking at ourselves more than the others because we’ve realised that if we focus on our team, we focus on our strengths everything else takes care of itself. So we are focusing on our team, our preparation. If everything that is there in our control, we control that, that gives us the best chance. So that is what our team is focusing on.”
India defeated Afghanistan by eight wickets on Wednesday, attaining their second consecutive win in the ongoing World Cup.
