Rice said: “Arsenal were so close to winning the Champions League in 2006 and to add that to the club title is very important because at club level the Champions League is the most important competition that players play in.

“A club like Arsenal deserves to be in the Champions League and I feel something is going to happen. Look at Inter last season, they went all the way to the final and nobody expects that, so we will have a good performance and I am sure we can compete in the best competitions.”
