[Saba Sports News] The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is actively pursuing visas for Pakistani journalists ahead of the upcoming World Cup. This effort follows the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressing disappointment over visa delays for both fans and the media. Around 60 Pakistani journalists are eagerly awaiting their visas for the event.
The anticipation for Pakistan’s World Cup opener against the Netherlands in Hyderabad has been building, even though no Pakistani media or fans have been present. However, one exception is Mohammad Bashir, a US citizen from Karachi, who passionately supported Pakistan from the stands.
The ICC spokesperson reassured that the BCCI is diligently working on resolving the visa issue, emphasizing their commitment to the process.
In a surprising turn, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, had a remarkable change of perspective regarding the reception in India. After experiencing exceptional hospitality upon arriving in Hyderabad, he now eagerly anticipates even greater support. He hopes to see Pakistan fans cheering for their team at every match and venue.
The PCB is hoping that visas will be granted ahead of the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan on October 14th in Ahmedabad. It’s worth noting that visa applications from Pakistani passport holders undergo thorough scrutiny by multiple Indian ministries due to Pakistan’s placement on India’s prior reference category (PRC) list.
The PCB spokesperson expressed disappointment at the uncertainty faced by Pakistani journalists and fans in obtaining Indian visas for Pakistan’s opening game in the ICC World Cup, recognizing their significant role in enhancing the spirit and atmosphere of sporting events.
