[Saba Sports News] Ahead of the Cricket World Cup 2023, New Zealand’s Captain, Kane Williamson, emphasized their commitment to their unique brand of cricket during the recent Captains’ Day event in Ahmedabad on October 4.
Despite past World Cup heartbreaks in 2015 and 2019, where they reached the finals but suffered agonizing defeats, Williamson’s focus remains on staying true to their distinctive style of play.
He mentioned the importance of sticking to their cricketing identity, stating, “For us, it’s focusing on the style of cricket that we want to keep committing to, and that gives us the best chance of putting on our best performance.”
Despite his determination, Williamson won’t lead his side in the opening match at the Narendra Modi Stadium due to a knee injury.
Nonetheless, he acknowledged the formidable challenges ahead in this marquee event, set to commence on October 5, expressing excitement for the cricketing spectacle it promises in India.
