[Saba Sports News] Former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha is likely to step down from his players’ representative role in the IPL Governing Council, with a decision expected at the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Goa on September 25. The AGM may also address the formation of a Governing Council for the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
Ojha has served on the IPL Governing Council for three years and was elected to the body by the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) last year. The AGM agenda includes the induction of one ICA representative into the IPL Governing Council.
According to Cricbuzz, Ojha is voluntarily leaving his position, and the ICA will hold a new election to appoint a replacement representative. The agenda also mentions the election and induction of two representatives from the General Body into the IPL Governing Council.
However, current members Arun Singh Dhumal from the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) and Avishek Dalmiya from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) are expected to retain their roles on the Governing Council.
The AGM agenda also includes the nomination of the Ombudsman and Ethics Officer. Still, the reconstitution of the men’s selection committee, possibly with some modifications, is considered a crucial matter, with a decision possibly reached at the general body meeting. Ajit Agarkar will continue to serve as the council’s chairman.
