Basketball, a hand-centered body antagonistic sport, is the core event of the Olympic Games. It was invented on December 21, 1891, by James Naismith, a physical education teacher at the YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts. In 1896, basketball was introduced to Tianjin, China. In 1904, the first basketball exhibition was held at the St. Louis Olympics. In 1932, the International Basketball Federation was founded. In 1936, basketball was included as an official sport in the Berlin Olympic Games.
