[Saba Sports News] Amazon, the media platform, is
actively considering the option of bidding for the TV rights to the Premier
League. At present, the Premier League has put forward five broadcast packages
for the rights, and Amazon’s Prime Video is expressing interest in securing at
least one of them. British media outlets speculate that Amazon’s entry into the
bidding process for Premier League broadcast rights could potentially challenge
the dominance of Sky Sports and TNT Sports in the broadcasting landscape. To
prevent any single broadcaster from acquiring more than four out of the five
broadcast packages, the Premier League has maintained a policy against allowing
one company to establish complete dominance and create a monopoly.
