[Saba Sports News] Following Denver’s 125-114 victory over the Mavericks, Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic shared his favorite aspect of Luka Doncic’s game with the media. Rather than a typical answer, Jokic humorously quipped that he enjoys beating Doncic and poking fun at him.
The Mavericks entered the game undefeated at 4-0, led by Doncic, who had an outstanding start to the season, averaging 33.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 9.4 assists per game on 50% shooting. However, even Doncic couldn’t secure a win against the defending champions, and it remains to be seen how long the Mavericks can maintain their impressive win rate.
Thanks to strong performances from Jokic and Michael Porter Jr., the Nuggets improved to 6-1 for the season, currently leading the Western Conference. Despite losing a key rotation player in the offseason, the Nuggets have continued their success from their title run in June.
While Jokic and Doncic are close friends, it’s worth comparing their careers at this point. Doncic, at 24 years old, has achieved remarkable success, regularly entering the MVP conversation, and making the Mavericks a Western Conference contender. However, Jokic, with similar stats of 27.3 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game this season, stands out in one key aspect: he has won an NBA championship with the Nuggets, a feat Doncic has yet to achieve. Until Doncic accomplishes that milestone, it remains a gap in his resume.
