The one-off Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand in Greater Noida has drawn attention for all the wrong reasons. Heavy rains prevented play on Day 1, highlighting the poor drainage system. Beyond the cricket facilities, the media covering the match faced mistreatment.
A viral photo has sparked concerns about hygiene, showing a catering worker washing utensils with toilet tap water. This comes after Afghanistan players accused the BCCI of severe mismanagement, and the viral image has added weight to their claims.
“There are no facilities. We will never come here again. Our preference is Lucknow. Even the players are unhappy with the conditions,” an ACB official shared.
The situation worsened after the rain, with staff digging near mid-on and using artificial grass as filler to make the ground playable. Organizers resorted to renting covers and fans from a tent house, while teams stayed in their hotels with little hope of improvement.
