Xavier Bartlett’s England series cut short due to injury after he was unable to complete his quota of 4 overs.
Xavier Bartlett’s chance to cement himself in the Australian side will have to wait as he suffered an injury in last night’s game vs England.
Bartlett’s injury is another blow to Australia after injuries to fellow pacer Spencer Johnson and Nathan Ellis.
The injury took place when Bartlett was bowling his 4th over. Skipper Marsh had given him 4 overs on the bounce after he was getting purchase off the wicket in cool and nippy conditions.
He was into the fifth ball of his final over where he pulled up. He then aborted the attempt to bowl the last 2 deliveries and was helped off to the dressing room.
All in all, Bartlett had a decent outing with the ball, ending with figures of 1/26 in his 3.4 overs.
It was later confirmed that the 25-year-old has suffered a side strain, and will be out of the ODI series. As far as the T20 series is concerned, Meredith, Aaron Hardie, and Cooper Connolly are options available,
New South Wales left-armer Ben Dwarshuis will fly in ahead of the ODIs although currently he is there as cover. Dwarshuis is uncapped in ODIs but has played three T20Is.
Hazlewood made a strong comeback to the game in Southampton, registering 2 for 32 in his four overs. Liam Livingstone, who had dared to re-enter the match, was among those crucially removed. He will participate in the one-day series along with Mitchell Starc. In order to improve his strength and conditioning before the home summer, Pat Cummins will be absent for the entire tour.
Australia beat England by 28 runs in the first T20i at Southampton.
