Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and Andre Russell paid a heartfelt tribute to West Indian legend Dwayne Bravo during his final Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match.
Bravo had announced his retirement from the CPL ahead of the 2024 season, making the game against Guyana Amazon Warriors at Queen’s Park Oval his last in the league.
TKR players and staff honored Bravo by wearing his iconic number 47 jersey and forming a guard of honor as he took the field.
Bravo continued to shine, bowling out Keemo Paul and taking a sharp catch to dismiss Tim Robinson. During the innings break, he was driven around the stadium, signing balls and tossing them to cheering fans.
Andre Russell, who was named Player of the Match, dedicated his performance to Bravo. “I’m just happy to be part of this game tonight, and that’s why so much emotion was behind the celebration. We’re going to miss him, but I hope he’s still around for the rest of the tournament. He’s someone we all look up to, and he might shed a tear tonight, but I appreciate him,” Russell said.
Bravo, a five-time CPL champion, was instrumental in building TKR’s legacy, leading them to back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018 and later guiding St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to their first title in 2021.
