India Women are gearing up for the crucial T20 World Cup 2024, which kicks off on October 3. Despite not having won the title yet, they came close in 2020 but were bested by Australia.
With a strong focus on winning this time, the team has brought in sports psychologist Mugdha Bawre to aid their mental preparation.
“We’ve addressed all areas of preparation that were lacking in previous editions,” said Harmanpreet Kaur. “With Mugdha’s help, we’ve had several sessions that have made us feel more confident, and executing those strategies on the ground has boosted our morale. Her hard work with us is really paying off,” Kaur shared.
India, having reached the semi-finals four times (2009, 2010, 2018, and 2023) and the final once, will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 4. Kaur emphasized that major tournaments require strong mental focus, and the team’s sessions with the sports psychologist are helping them prepare for that challenge.
