KKR appoint Dwayne Bravo as mentor for 2025 IPL Season after the latter parts ways with the Chennai Super Kings.
KKR, the 2024 IPL champions have appointed Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as their mentor for the 2025 IPL season.
The announcement from KKR comes at the same time Bravo ends his association with the Chennai Super Kings. He won 4 IPL titles with CSK in a multitude of roles within the set-up.
The Trinidadian now has huge shoes to fill in Kolkata, replacing the current India head coach Gautam Gambhir. The agreement saw Venky Mysore, CEO of KKR meet Bravo while the latter was playing for TKR in the CPL.
With KKR, Bravo will consequently mentor every team that comes under the Knight Riders franchise blanket. These include Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC) and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20).
Bravo comes with rich pedigree in franchise cricket, all things considered. He is also known for his motivational and tactical qualities after a huge catalog of close to 500 T20 games. This is his second foray into team management. The first one was being the bowling coach of CSK, where he was immediately successful, winning the IPL in 2023.
“DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development.” Mysore said in a statement. “His relentless drive to win, along with his vast experience and deep knowledge, will greatly benefit our franchise and players.”
“I’ve been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate,” Bravo said in a statement. “The owners’ passion, the professionalism of the management, and the family-like environment make it a special place. This is the perfect platform for me as I transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players.”
