Musheer Khan meets with fatal accident and is all set to miss a substantial period of domestic cricket action.
Musheer Khan has suffered neck injuries during a road accident in the outskirts of Lucknow on Friday.
The Mumbai all-rounder Musheer was travelling from his hometown of Azamgarh to Lucknow for the Irani Cup, which starts on October 1. Musheer is probably going to be disqualified from both the match and the first few Ranji Trophy stages.
Musheer was travelling with his father and two other people when their Toyota Fortuner SUV crashed into a median and overturned, according to both eyewitnesses and a Lucknow Police traffic directorate member. Although Musheer was admitted to the hospital and given concussion treatment, it is unclear how much harm was done.
Musheer will reportedly be flown back to Mumbai as soon as possible, where he would admit himself into a hospital under the BCCI’s mandate for a thorough evaluation. His case has been quickly brought to the attention of the BCCI and the NCA’s medical panel.
Musheer was scheduled to play for Mumbai, the Ranji Trophy winners, in the first-class match at Ekana Stadium. Mumbai’s Ranji campaign will kick off against Baroda on October 11 following the Irani match.
For Musheer, the injury is a blow after a brilliant beginning to his first-class career. In just nine first-class games, he already has three centuries and a half centuries. This includes a century that won the match against Vidarbha in the final, a half-century in the semi-final, and a double-hundred in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal from the previous season.
He opened the new domestic season earlier this month, defeating a potent India A assault that included Avesh Khan, Akash Deep, Khaleel Ahmed, and Kuldeep Yadav, with an incredible 181 in the Duleep Trophy.
Sarfaraz Khan, an Indian batter and Musheer’s older brother, has been released from the Kanpur Test squad to play in the Irani Cup. Sarfaraz’s availability depended on whether or not he was selected for India’s playing eleven for the second Test match against Bangladesh.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), which is captained by Ajinkya Rahane, has not yet announced Musheer’s replacement in the team.
