Nistelrooy eager to help Manchester United in any capacity after a winning start as the club’s interim manager.
Nistelrooy keen to stay in Manchester United setup as part of Rúben Amorim’s coaching staff.
Van Nistelrooy, who was promoted from his assistant role under Ten Hag, managed United’s 5-2 Carabao Cup triumph over Leicester at Old Trafford on Wednesday in his role as interim manager.
After discussions regarding shortening the 30-day notice period for the Sporting head coach are concluded, Amorim is anticipated to be named Ten Hag’s successor. Van Nistelrooy was asked if he would like to be involved in any new arrangements.
“I’m here to help and serve and give my everything for the club in any capacity with so many people here around me that want the best for the club and that will never change,” the 48-year-old Dutchman said.
Van Nistelrooy could captain the team in three more games, including the Premier League match against Chelsea, the Europa League match against PAOK, and the return of Leicester to the league on Sunday week, as reports from Portugal indicate Amorim might not take over at United until the next international break due to wrangling over the notice period.
He is content to do so. “Of course – I came here as an assistant to help the club,” Van Nistelrooy said. “Now in this role, I’m helping as long as needed. In the future in any capacity, I’m here to help the club further to build towards the future – that’s what I’m here for.”
United’s win came via a double each from Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes and an Alejandro Garnacho strike, Bilal El Khannouss and Conor Coady scoring for Leicester.
