Leny Yoro’s potential debut excites United boss Amorim as teenager is expected to be part of the side to face Arsenal.
Leny Yoro’s season for Manchester United could finally get the launch with the summer signing set to be a part of the squad to face Arsenal.
Yoro may make his Manchester United debut on Wednesday against Arsenal. Ruben Amorim, the team’s head coach, has expressed his excitement at seeing the “special talent” play for the team.
Yoro was acquired by United from Lille for £52 million in the summer, but the Frenchman had surgery to treat a foot injury sustained in a friendly match against Arsenal during preseason in the US.
Although the 19-year-old hasn’t played since. He resumed training in October and is scheduled to make his Premier League debut at Emirates Stadium.
“Maybe Leny Yoro is going be in the squad,” Amorim said in his pre-match news conference. “I feel he is in a good moment now, his fitness is better.”
Amorim said: “He is a special talent, we have to be careful in the first moment. We didn’t have too many training [sessions] together. He has been training with a small group of players.
“He is really fast, a modern defender. He’ll be good when we want to press high and you leave a lot of strikers in this league one against one, he can manage that. He is very good with the ball so I am very excited.
“We have to be careful. We have to manage the load and minute in the beginning. However, I am really excited to see Leny Yoro playing.”
Before joining United in July, Yoro was connected to Real Madrid, Paris St-Germain, and Liverpool. Dan Ashworth, the team’s sporting director, called the centre-back “one of the most exciting young defenders in world football.”
