Ivan Juric reported to be Southampton’s new manager appointment as the club lokks to replace Russell Martin.
Ivan Juric is set to be appointed as Southampton’s new manager.
On the shortlist to succeed Ralph Hasenhüttl at Saints two years ago, the former Roma manager—who was fired by the Serie A team last month after 12 games—is anticipated to be hired this time.
With just one victory in 16 games, Southampton is at the bottom of the Premier League and fighting for an instant relegation to the Championship. They are looking for their sixth manager in less than two years.
The Sport Republic ownership group, which is led by Dragan Solak, Henrik Kraft, and Rasmus Ankersen, identified Juric as a top contender after he made an impression during his three-year tenure as Torino’s manager. The out-of-work Juric was a desirable alternative because it is believed that Saints were eager to avoid paying compensation.
Kasper Hjulmand, the former manager of Denmark, was also considered as a contender. Southampton is a fan of Carlos Corberán, who has a roughly £3 million release clause in his West Brom contract.
It’s uncertain if an agreement to hire Juric might be reached in time for him to start leading Fulham on Sunday. The temporary manager is Simon Rusk, who was hired in the summer to coach Southampton Under-21s.
Although the Croat has managed six Italian teams, Juric has never served as a coach in England. The 49-year-old earlier declared that he was a huge admirer of heavy metal, mentioning how much he loved Slayer, Megadeth, and Metallica.
