Alex Balde complains of racist abuse after Barca draw against Getafe and lose further ground in the title race.
Alex Balde reported receiving racist abuse from fans as Barcelona dropped points for a fourth game in a row.
The defender said that after telling the referee during the match, a public announcement was made to the stadium’s fans.
He told Movistar: “I received various racist insults from some fans today, and I think that’s something I should say here.
“I think it’s something that should not keep happening.”
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick told reporters: “There’s no space for this in football or in life, this is unbelievable, in the time [we live in now] it’s totally wrong.
“They have to stay at home. Not go to the match, they have to stay at home.
“I think we have to fight against them, it’s the best thing, and the people around them can also do something. I think everyone can do it.”
Before this match, Flick’s team had won four straight Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup games.
However, they regained the league form that had allowed them to gain one point from their last three 2024 games.
Early on, things were promising as Jules Kounde scrambled in a goal after David Soria heroically stopped his first attempt.
However, Inaki Pena had deflected Coba da Costa’s shot into his path, and Mauro Arambarri levelled.
Frenkie de Jong nearly gave Barcelona the victory with a strong shot, but Soria, who was diving, made a great save.
After losing to Leganes earlier on Saturday, Barcelona is now five points behind Atletico Madrid in third place in La Liga.
Getafe is one point above the relegation zone in La Liga after going undefeated in their last five home meetings against Barcelona.
