Rashford resigns to his fate to play at Man United this season with transfer and loan deals coming to nothing.
Rashford resigns to the fact he may have to stay at Manchester United for the rest of the season after failing to secure a move in the first three and a half weeks of the transfer window.
After being left out of the team for United’s 2-1 victory against Manchester City by Ruben Amorim, Rashford, who hasn’t played for United since December 12th, declared five days later that he was “ready for a new challenge.” Amorim, who has stated that the England international was benched for “training reasons,” has no problem with Rashford and would be delighted to return to United’s team.
Rashford trained with the team once more on Wednesday and seemed happy, making jokes with teammates while Amorim managed the club’s preparations for Rangers’ Europa League visit.
Other alternatives have been considered after Rashford declined a permanent move to Saudi Arabia, where a number of teams expressed interest. Due to the possible expense, a loan agreement with Borussia Dortmund has stalled. United wants a share of Rashford’s £365,000 weekly salary from Dortmund. Jamie Gittens, who plays Rashford’s favoured left-wing position, is another player for Dortmund.
They are signing Kyle Walker from Manchester City through the end of the season, so a loan to Milan was not feasible. Due to a Brexit-related regulation, Milan was only permitted to sign one British player during the transfer window. According to reports, Barcelona is still interested in the 27-year-old, but they would have to make sells first due to their financial constraints, which make a deal extremely challenging.
Rashford was an unused substitute in United’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle on December 30, the only match-day squad he has been a part of since being benched. It is said that Amorim is thinking of summoning him back for the Rangers’ visit.
