Riyan Parag back to full fitness and set to lead Assam on his return to full fitness from a shoulder injury.
Riyan Parag has been declared fit to return to action in the seventh round of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season.
After missing out on the T20I series in South Africa and the current T20I series against England due to a shoulder injury that required surgery, Parag’s last competitive match was the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad in October of last year.
Parag has played ten white-ball internationals for India, having made his debut against Zimbabwe in a T20I in Harare in July 2024. Aside from his big hitting, his quickish spin added depth to India’s attack before he got injured. His last competitive match was the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad in October of last year. He was then ruled out of the T20I series in South Africa and the current T20I series against England due to a shoulder injury that required surgery.
He amassed 378 runs in six innings during the previous Ranji Trophy season, averaging 75.60 and hitting 113.85. Last season, Parag hit 20 sixes, more than anyone else.
An Assam team that is currently struggling at the bottom of the Elite Group D standings with zero victories, two loses, and four draws in six games will benefit from Parag’s return. Saurashtra is still in the running to go to the next round, while Assam is eliminated from consideration for the knockout stages.
