Varun Chakravarthy fined and handed one demerit point following Kolkata Knight Riders’ defeat against CSK yesterday.
Varun Chakravarthy gets a fine and one demerit point.
Varun Chakravarthy, a spinner for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), was given one demerit point and a 25% fine for violating the IPL code of conduct during Wednesday’s encounter against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Eden Gardens.
The IPL stated that the incident was a Level 1 infraction under Article 2.5, although it did not provide specifics. Any words, gestures, or actions that a player uses to address a batter after he is removed and that could cause the batter to react aggressively are covered by Article 2.5. Varun had waved Dewald Brevis off the pitch after he had disqualified him during the chase.
The match referee’s ruling is final and enforceable for Level 1 violations.
Brevis scored 52 off of 25, and KKR was able to get back into the game thanks to his wicket. However, they were unable to defend 179, even though Varun took 2 for 18 from four overs. With 11 points from 12 games, they are currently sixth in the standings and their dreams of making the playoffs are in shambles. On May 10 and May 17, respectively, they will play away games against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
