Titans continue to train in Ahmedabad as IPL 2025 waits for resumption.
The Gujarat Titans (GT) are one team that has continued to operate normally in spite of the uncertainties surrounding the IPL 2025 restart. Despite the event being postponed for a week on May 9 due to the increase of cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the current season’s best players have continued to train.
In the 24 hours that followed the league’s suspension, a number of foreign players and coaching staff departed India. Only the overseas duo of Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee returned to their native countries of South Africa and England, respectively, making GT the only team that did not entirely split. The majority of its players and support personnel remained in Ahmedabad, the franchise’s hometown, to train at Narendra Modi Stadium.
The BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, stated on Sunday that the board would “duly announce the date of IPL restart” after consulting “all stakeholders and the concerned government authorities.” The truce was declared on Saturday night.
At the moment, GT is at the top of the points standings. Like Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), they have won eight of their eleven games, but their net run rate is higher. They were scheduled to play the Delhi Capitals (DC) at Delhi and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home in two of their final three games.
In the Orange Cap race, GT’s openers B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill are ranked second and third, respectively. Both have scored more than 500 runs, and the only player behind them is Suryakumar Yadav of the Mumbai Indians (MI). Prasidh Krishna, a quick bowler for GT, has taken 20 wickets to lead the Purple Cap race.
