Capitals get in Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur as Fraser-McGurk’s replacement for the remainder of the IPL season.
Capitals get in Mustafizur signing after Fraser-McGurk exits IPL 2025.
It is believed that Fraser-McGurk, who was acquired by the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the high-profile auction for INR 9 crore (about USD 1.07 million), has told the team that he will not be returning to the team.
Fraser-McGurk was replaced at DC by Mustafizur Rahman, a fast bowler from Bangladesh, for INR 6 crore, according to the IPL. In the IPL 2022 and 2023, Mustafizur played for DC and took nine wickets across two seasons. But according to the revised replacement regulations, DC would not be able to keep him for the 2026 Indian Premier League.
Due to subpar batting performances, Fraser-McGurk went from being essential at the conclusion of IPL 2024 to being disposable for DC by the halfway point of this season. The 23-year-old Fraser-McGurk opened in DC’s first six games but scored in the single digits in five of them. His highest score was 38 out of 55 runs before he was benched.
Even so, the move won’t aid DC, who are still in the running for the playoffs because it’s believed they are still awaiting confirmations from a number of their top foreign players.
Mitchell Starc, a left-arm fast from Australia, and Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs, both from South Africa, are on that list.
Stubbs is a member of South Africa’s team for the World Test Championship final, which starts at Lord’s on June 11. According to CSA, the players who are headed to the WTC must follow the initial NOCs, which are valid until May 25, which was the original date for the IPL final.
