Delhi Capitals To Take Big KL Rahul decision With Eye On IPL 2025 Playoffs.
According to a rumour, Rahul would probably start for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their final three Indian Premier League (IPL) league games. Rahul batting at the top is part of a batting change that DC is seriously considering due to a decline in form. Rahul has only started once this season, batted at number three twice, and spent the other seven games at number four, where he was assigned before to the start of the season.
According to a Times of India (TOI) story, Rahul’s promotion to the top of the order is imminent because DC wants some stability at the top of the order with the IPL playoffs approaching.
“He has had decent returns in the middle-order but the management is keen to stop the shuffling of openers and have the experience of Rahul in the powerplay,” the report said.
Premier pacer Mitchell Starc’s decision to not return for the rest of the season was a significant blow for DC, who are now just outside the top four with 13 points after 11 games. With 14 wickets, the Australian left-armer leads the squad in wicket-taking, and his absence would severely hurt DC’s already remote playoff prospects.
On Friday, Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman received the ‘No Objection Certificate’ from his national board, which was somewhat of a relief for the Capitals.
Mustafizur, an accomplished IPL player who has taken 38 wickets at an economy rate of 7.84 in as many games, is anticipated to lead a faltering pace attack against a GT lineup that relies heavily on batting.
This season, the Axar Patel-led team has had a dismal home record, winning just once at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, and that victory came in a Super Over.
In recent excursions, DC’s issues have only gotten worse. In a rain-soaked match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, their top and middle order collapsed, and Punjab Kings thrashed their bowlers, reaching 122 for 1 in 10.1 overs when the Dharamsala match was called off.
Given the lacklustre performance of the pace attack, which includes Dushmantha Chameera and Mukesh Kumar, Mustafizur’s contribution to early breakthroughs is all the more important, particularly when facing GT’s dominant top order.
