Mehidy to join Lahore Qalandars for PSL 2025 playoffs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, an all-around player from Bangladesh, has joined Lahore Qalandars for the PSL 2025 playoffs. Mehidy is scheduled to take a flight to Lahore by Tuesday after receiving the necessary no-objection certificate from the BCB.
Qalandars will play the Eliminator on Thursday; their opponents have not yet been announced. The PSL playoffs start on Wednesday.
Mehidy said that he was looking forward to the stint even though it could be for as few as one match.
“Of course it is exciting for me to join Lahore Qalandars,” Mehidy said. “It is technically the second time I have got a call-up to a franchise league. Nonetheless, it is a good opportunity for me to compete at a very high level. PSL is one of the top tournaments going around. I have done well in the past in the BPL, so I am confident that I can give my best.”
Mehidy stated that he hoped to take advantage of the chance to re-enter Bangladesh’s T20I lineup. He was left out of both the squad for the upcoming five-match series in Pakistan and the one currently playing a T20I series against the UAE in Sharjah.
Sikandar Raza was brought back by Qalandars when the PSL resumed after the halt due to border tensions between India and Pakistan. However, he is only available for one match before joining the Zimbabwe side for the one-time four-day Test match against England at Trent Bridge. Shakib was called up because David Wiese and Sam Billings haven’t returned to Pakistan.
Shakib made his debut on Sunday, scoring 18 runs in two overs without a wicket while being dismissed for a first-ball duck against Peshawar Zalmi.
Prior to Shakib and Mehidy, Nahid Rana was with the Karachi Kings, and Rishad Hossain was with the Qalandars. Before suffering an injury during practice and having to depart, Litton Das was also a member of the Kings this season.
