England’s Angel Gomes to leave Lille on free transfer.
When his contract with Lille expires this summer, Angel Gomes has declared that he will leave the French team on a free transfer.
The 24-year-old made the announcement on Instagram. Last year, he earned his first four senior caps under temporary manager Lee Carsley.
“After four unforgettable years at LOSC Lille, it’s time for me to say goodbye,” he said.
“This club has been more than just a team – it’s been a family, a home, and a place that has shaped me both on and off the pitch.
“Like any journey, there were ups and downs, highs and lows, but I’m truly grateful to my team-mates and the fans for sticking with me throughout.”
Gomes, who attended Manchester United’s academy, made 134 appearances for Lille in all competitions, tallying 10 goals and dishing out 19 assists.
Prior to making a name for himself in the French league, he spent his first season on loan at Portuguese team Boavista after joining the team from United in 2020.
According to reports from outside sources, Tottenham and West Ham are reportedly interested in him returning to Old Trafford.
