IPL young turks underline India’s U19 squad for England as Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi picked in the side.
IPL young turks dominate the side as India name U19 side to travel to England.
In June-July 2025, the India Under-19 squad will embark on a multi-format tour of England, led by 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, who made a spectacular first-class debut with Mumbai and the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. The 16-man team also includes 14-year-old Bihar native and Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
India Under-19 will play England Under-19 in two multi-day matches, a five-match Youth one-day series, and a 50-over warm-up match during the tour. Mumbai-born wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu will serve as the vice captain.
The team also includes Punjabi batsman Vihaan Malhotra, who has previously opened the batting with Suryavanshi. Other former India U-19 players include Bengal seamer Yudhajit Guha, Kerala legspinner Mohamed Enaan, Punjab offspinner Anmoljeet Singh, and Saurashtra wicketkeeper-batter Harvansh Pangalia.
In the two Youth Test matches against Australia U19, Enaan took the most wickets (16), followed by Anmoljeet (nine). In that series as well, Pangalia hit a century (117).
A call-up has also been given to Gujarati all-rounder Khilan Patel, who won Player of the Series in the Cooch Behar Trophy, a domestic Under-19 four-dayer competition, thanks to his left-arm spin bowling and batting. Maulyarajsinh Chavda, Rahul Kumar, RS Ambrish, Kanishk Chouhan, Henil Patel, Pranav Raghavendra, and Aditya Rana are the other members of the team.
Naman Pushpak, D Deepesh, Vedant Trivedi, Vikalp Tiwari, and wicketkeeper Alankrith Rapole are the backup players. The Junior Cricket Committee, which is presently headed by Thilak Naidu, chose the team.
In terms of age, every member of this team is qualified for the 2026 Under-19 World Cup, which will take place in Namibia and Zimbabwe early in the following year. This will be the Under-19 team’s third match since the last Under-19 World Cup. They have already hosted Australia Under-19 at home in 2024 and came second in the U-19 Asia Cup the previous year.
