Ivan Toney earns England recall for the first time since signing for Saudi club Al-Ahli last year from Brentford.
Ivan Toney, the former Brentford striker, has been called up to the England team for the games against Andorra and Senegal next month.
The 29-year-old is making his first appearance since joining Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia last summer after leaving the Bees.
He played in Spain’s loss in the Euro 2024 final, the final of his six England appearances.
Although Al-Ahli was left out of his initial team in March, his 28 goals in 42 games this season have persuaded England head coach Thomas Tuchel to give the striker a closer look.
On June 7, England plays Andorra in a World Cup qualifying match. On June 10, they host Senegal at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground for a friendly match.
Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid has also been chosen, even though the midfielder will soon have shoulder surgery.
The 21-year-old will undergo surgery after the Club World Cup, which begins on June 15 and comes after England’s games, in order to address a chronic shoulder problem that has plagued him since 2023.
Harry Kane, the captain and striker for Bayern Munich, Cole Palmer of Chelsea, and Conor Gallagher of Atletico Madrid are among the men Tuchel has chosen to compete in the Club World Cup.
Phil Foden, a midfielder for Manchester City, is conspicuously missing, and Manchester United is not represented.
Trevoh Chalobah, a defender for Chelsea, was called up to the senior squad for the first time.
