Sporting set hefty price tag on prized asset Gyökeres as clubs around Europe circle around to acquire his services.
Sporting set a hefty price tag for clubs interested in signing Swede Viktor Gyökeres.
According to the source, Sporting has informed interested parties, including Arsenal, that Viktor Gyökeres will cost €80 million (£67 million).
Gyökeres, who has scored a lot of goals for the Portuguese champions since joining them from Coventry in the summer of 2023 for £20.5 million, is ready to cash in. Sporting has decided to hold out for at least €80 million, even if they won’t pursue the full €100 million of his release clause.
Francisco Zenha, the club’s vice president, stated in Portuguese media that he has not yet received an offer for Gyökeres, whose contract is up in three years.
Gyökeres is on Arsenal’s want list as they prepare for a busy summer and want a new number nine. They have also monitored Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig’s development. Alexander Isak of Newcastle is out of reach.
Gyökeres has been a phenomenon at Sporting, scoring 97 goals in 102 games across all competitions. He has admirers in all of Europe’s top leagues. In each of his seasons with them, the 26-year-old Sweden international has helped them win the league, and in this most recent season, he helped them win the Portuguese Cup.
