Struggles don’t reduce Man United value as club stands at second place only behind Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Man Utd second most valuable club despite struggles
Despite their recent on-field setbacks, Manchester United has been ranked as the second most valuable football club in the world, behind only Real Madrid.
United is ranked second on Forbes’ annual list of the most valuable football teams in the world, with a valuation of $6.6 billion (£4.9 billion) and $834 million (£620 million) in income for the 2023–24 season.
Despite failing to qualify for the Uefa Champions League and placing eighth in the Premier League table in 23–24, United’s valuation rose by 1%, according to Forbes.
While United lost the Uefa Europa League final and ended 15th in the Premier League in 24–25, they did win the FA Cup that season.
As a result, Ruben Amorim’s team will not be participating in European football next season.
United continues to profit from possessing one of the most powerful brands in sports, even in the face of on-field difficulties, debts of £1 billion, and losses of £113.2 million recorded in 23–24.
Due to the club’s supremacy in the 1990s and 2000s, it has a sizable global fan base.
With a valuation of $6.75 billion and $1.129 billion in revenue, Real Madrid is ranked first, followed by Barcelona in third place.
Despite having the second-highest revenue in 23–24 ($901m), Manchester City is ranked sixth overall ($5.3bn), up 4% from the year before.
Liverpool, with a valuation of $5.4 billion and $773 million in income in 23–24, is the fourth most valuable football club in the world.
