Holder finds a recall back into the WI T20i squad.
Nicholas Pooran requested to be rested for the tour after his involvement in the IPL, therefore the West Indies will be without him despite the recall of Jason Holder and Andre Russell to their T20I team to play England.
Following the end of their ODI series at The Oval on Tuesday, the West Indies will play England in three Twenty20 Internationals. They will then play another three-T20I series in Ireland, where they started their white-ball tour last month. However, they have chosen to rest Russell and other members of the coaching and playing staff from that leg.
Holder missed the World Cup later in the year due to injury, and he last played Twenty20 Internationals for his nation in February 2024. Russell last played in November against England in Barbados, however he was sidelined for the remainder of the series due to an ankle injury.
West Indies will play their first series against England since Shai Hope took over as T20I skipper in place of Rovman Powell.
Powell, who managed a 3-0 loss to Bangladesh at home in his last series as manager, kept his place in the team, although all-rounders Terrance Hinds, Shamar Springer, and Justin Greaves were left out.
Brandon King was given leave, thus Keacy Carty will only play in the Ireland T20Is. Roston Chase, the new Test captain, will also depart after the England series to fly back to the Caribbean before Australia’s tour. In Chase’s place, former West Indies Under-19 Jyd Goolie received his first call-up.
Prior to the first Test match against Australia, which begins on June 25, the West Indies will conduct a Test training camp in Barbados from June 13–21. Rayon Griffith will take over for the Ireland T20Is, while assistants Floyd Reifer and Ravi Rampaul, along with Daren Sammy, who was recently named head coach across all forms, will all come home early.
