Ryan Mason set to become West Brom coach following his decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach position.
Ryan Mason has left Tottenham to take over as West Brom head coach on a three-year contract.
After they fired Tony Mowbray on April 21, Mason immediately became a top contender for the Championship team. After a brief break, Mason chose to accept Spurs’ offer and take his first managerial step. Spurs’ incredible 2024–25 season, in which they won the Europa League, ended on May 25 and forced West Brom to wait.

“Having spoken at length to the board and those at the club, I am convinced that Albion is the perfect place for me to be and I can’t wait to get started. Mason, 33, quits his seven-year coaching tenure at Tottenham and becomes the Championship’s youngest head coach.
Mason, who played 70 games for his childhood team after graduating from Spurs’ academy, had to end his playing career in 2018 after suffering a broken skull in a Premier League game for Hull against Chelsea the previous year.
Before deciding to stay at Spurs, Mason had discussions with the Belgian team Anderlecht in October. This allowed him to contribute to the team’s first trophy since 2008.
Mason had long been predicted to become a manager after serving as Tottenham’s manager for two prior caretaker stints, during which he led the team to the 2021 Carabao Cup final.
Mason will take over West Brom after they finished ninth in the Championship, having spent another two years coaching Tottenham’s first team.
Despite just being hired in January to replace Carlos Corberan, who resigned to take charge at Valencia, Mowbray was fired in April when their playoff aspirations were dashed.
