Pogba aiming to return with Monaco after doping ban.
Paul Pogba, a former midfielder for Manchester United and Juventus, is in advanced negotiations with Monaco in an attempt to resume playing football following a doping suspension.
The 32-year-old French World Cup champion is working towards rejoining the Ligue 1 team in his native country.
According to BBC Sport, talks have centred on the midfield player agreeing to a two-year contract with Monaco, who intend to finalise the agreement in the next few days.
Pogba is practicing prior to preseason as he plans his comeback to action, and negotiations have been going on for several weeks.
After being randomly tested after Juventus’ 2023–24 season opener against Udinese, Pogba received a provisional suspension.
After an appeal, his four-year ban was later reduced to 18 months in October.
In November, he and Juventus reached an agreement to mutually terminate his contract, and since March, he has been free to resume his career.
It was revealed in the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s final ruling in his case that Pogba had unintentionally taken DHEA, a testosterone-boosting drug that is prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Importantly, however, the decision found that DHEA solely affects female performance.
