Omar Berrada confident of Man United being PL champions by ’28 as CEO sticking to timetable after trophyless season.
Omar Berrada, the CEO of Manchester United, is still optimistic that the team will win both the men’s and women’s league titles by 2028, when they celebrate their 150th anniversary. With Chelsea dominating the Women’s Super League and the men having recently finished the worst top-flight season since relegation in 1973–74, Berrada, who informed staff of his “Project 150” vision in September, is aware that this poses a serious challenge.
He thinks it’s feasible to achieve double title triumph and mark a significant turning point in the club’s history since it was established as Newton Heath in 1878. Berrada stated in the United We Stand fanzine, which will be released on Wednesday: “It’s setting a number of goals within a timeframe so we can concentrate our efforts and energy on that goal.”
“Can the team win the Premier League title by 2028? Of course. We’ve just finished 15th and it seems an impossible task. But why not aim for it? Why not do everything in our power?”
In addition to losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final and finishing three spots above the Premier League relegation zone, United finished third in the WSL, 16 points behind Chelsea, who defeated them in the FA Cup final. Berrada is adhering to his schedule, though.
He said: “I firmly believe we can do it. We have two or three summer windows to build a team to start competing to win the Premier League.”
