Maxwell spanks century as Freedom demolish LAKR as they register a thumping 113-run victory to boost NRR.
Maxwell spanks century as he lifted his side from 68/4 to 208/5, which was instrumental in their victory.
Freedom’s bowlers skittled LAKR for only 95 after his innings at number six helped them score 208 for 5.
Freedom is now third in the MLC 2025 points standings after winning their second straight game. With three losses in three games, LAKR is in fifth place; their net run rate is the only thing separating them from last place.
Freedom chose to bat and scored his sixth T20 century with 13 sixes and two fours before Maxwell arrived at 68 for 4. With Mark Chapman (17 off 21) and Obus Pienaar (14* off 15) supporting the sixth T20 century in the tournament’s brief history, it gave the Freedom innings impetus. Maxwell’s six-hitting helped Freedom score 124 runs in the last 10 innings.
After losing their top three players—Alex Hales, Sunil Narine, and Unmukt Chand—all for ducks, LAKR’s problems were made worse by Freedom opener Mitchell Owen, who destroyed their middle order with a three-wicket haul in the chase after scoring 32 off of 11 balls. The openers and the number three were all out without scoring for just the fourth time in the franchise’s T20 history.
Despite scoring 32 and 23, respectively, middle-order batsman Saif Badar and captain Jason Holder were unable to reduce the loss margin to less than 100. In the 17th over, Saurabh Netravalkar claimed the first and final LAKR wickets to end the match, while Jack Edwards, who removed Chand, Rovman Powell, and Holder, also claimed a three-for.
