St Lucia sign Tim David for upcoming CPL season with 46-year-old veteran Imran was retained by Amazon Warriors.
Tim David signs with defending champions St Lucia Kings for CPL 2025.
IPL champion Tim David was selected in the first round of the 2025 draft by the St Lucia Kings, the reigning Caribbean Premier League (CPL) champions. The Hundred will take precedence over the CPL this season, and Kings will be without Faf du Plessis, who guided them to their first championship last year.
Due to his involvement with the Delhi Capitals in the IPL, Du Plessis will instead play for the Southern Brave in the Hundred. After acquiring host county Hampshire last year, the Capitals’ co-owners, GMR Group, are completing the purchase of Southern Brave.
Moeen Ali, who declared his retirement from international cricket in September of last year, has chosen to forego the Hundred for the CPL after being re-signed by the Guyana Amazon Warriors as a seventh-round pick. Amazon Warriors kept their first pick, 46-year-old Imran Tahir.
Usman Tariq and Muhammad Amir, both from Pakistan, have joined the Trinbago Knight Riders, four-time CPL champions. Offspinner Tariq, who plays for the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL, will be playing in the CPL for the first time, but Amir is well-known in the league from his time with the Jamaica Tallawahs and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
The Falcons selected Shakib Al Hasan as their second pick and Imad Wasim as their first pick. The CPL record for most runs in an innings is held by Shakib, who in 2013 scored 4-1-6-6 for the Barbados team.
Although Rashid Khan will miss the CPL once more, Afghanistan has a big presence in the tournament thanks to other spinners. Joining Naveen-ul-Haq at Falcons will be mystery spinner AM Ghazanfar, who was selected by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 auction and is presently playing well for Derbyshire in the T20 Blast.
After playing for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL and MI Emirates in the UAE’s ILT20, Bevon Jacobs, a powerful batter from New Zealand, will join the Falcons for his first CPL assignment. The Amazon Warriors will welcome Glenn Phillips, who originally gained recognition as a franchise player in the CPL before making a name for himself as an all-arounder for New Zealand. Colin Munro will rejoin TKR, and wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert will remain with Kings.
