Tomiyasu set to end injury-riddled stint at Arsenal as he and the club mutually decide to terminate his contract.
Takehiro Tomiyasu, a defender for Arsenal, has decided to conclude his contract with the team and is departing.
The Japan international, who only played six minutes of football last season, is recuperating from knee surgery.
As he recovers from the surgery he had in February, Tomiyasu could be out for an additional five months.
Due to a prior knee ailment that also required surgery in 2023, the 26-year-old was unable to start the previous season.
According to information obtained by BBC Sport, Tomiyasu and Arsenal have struck a contractual agreement to terminate his current contract, which was supposed to expire at the end of the upcoming season.
Tomiyasu made 79 appearances for Arsenal after joining from Bologna in 2021.
This summer, Arsenal has already begun to consider defensive additions, and one of their objectives is Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera.
Oleksandr Zinchenko may depart before the summer transfer deadline on Monday, September 1st, and Kieran Tierney has already left Arsenal to join Celtic.
