Washington finish top 2 as rain abandons the Freedom-Texas game without a ball being bowled in the contest.
After nonstop rain, the MLC 2025 Qualifier 1 between the Texas Super Kings and Washington Freedom washed out, leaving only a toss as a viable option. Freedom, who finished first on the league stage points table, went straight to the final with no reserve day planned. In two years, this will be Freedom’s second final.
At 9:45 p.m. local time in Dallas, two hours and forty-five minutes after play was supposed to begin at 7 p.m. and forty-one minutes before of the five-overs-a-side game’s cutoff period, the match was officially called off.
Freedom chose to bowl first, and the toss happened on schedule at 6:30 p.m. local time. They substituted fast bowler Lockie Ferguson for Mark Chapman in their lone alteration to the starting lineup from their previous league match. In contrast, Super Kings entered unaltered.
However, the stadium was under a lightning advisory and the field was covered just minutes before the game was supposed to begin. Following the storm, there was a lot of rain, which ultimately caused the match to be called off because to the ongoing bad weather.
