Afg-Ban white-ball series to be probably held in UAE and the series will complete the second part of an all-format engagement.
UAE likely to host Afg-Ban white-ball series in October.
In October, Afghanistan will probably host Bangladesh in the United Arab Emirates for a three-match ODI and three-match T20I series. Although the tour dates are not yet set, the games may be played in September following the Asia Cup and in the third week of October before Bangladesh hosts the West Indies in six white-ball matches.
The second half of what was once planned to be an all-format engagement in July 2024—which would have included two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is—will be finished if the series proceeds.
The series, which was supposed to take place in Greater Noida, was postponed due to weather conditions and Bangladesh’s hectic schedule. Originally, the schedule was changed to only feature white-ball matches. Afghanistan prevailed 2-1 in the three-match ODI portion of the visit in November 2024.
The two Test matches are being discussed between ACB and BCB for play at some point next year.
The two sides’ preparation for the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka in February and March of 2026 will benefit greatly from the T20I series in particular.
Additionally, the series will bridge Afghanistan’s calendar gap between the Asia Cup and a comprehensive tour of Zimbabwe that begins at the end of October.
The series will mark the first time both sides have faced each other in the format since their June 2024 T20 World Cup match in Kingstown, where Afghanistan’s stunning victory guaranteed them a spot in the World Cup semifinals for the first time.
