Barcelona make loan offer for Marcus Rashford with the Spanish side having been Rashford’s preferred destination.
Marcus Rashford, a forward for Manchester United, is getting closer to his ideal transfer to Barcelona.
Since he first indicated that it was time for a new challenge in December, following his dismissal by head coach Ruben Amorim, Rashford has made the Spanish giants his favourite destination.
Intermediaries have been involved in discussions, and it is thought that a deal can be struck.
An initial loan with a buyout option would be the next step.
Spanish champions Barcelona had appeared to be interested in signing Spain winger Nico Williams earlier this summer.
The 22-year-old did, however, agree to a fresh 10-year deal with Athletic Bilbao.
Rashford made 17 appearances in all competitions during his loan stint with Aston Villa in the second half of the previous season, tallying four goals and dishing out six assists.
In a dispute over their futures, he is one of five United players—and the highest paid—who have been ordered to practice apart from Amorim’s team.
While Amorim is at United, the 27-year-old does not think he will play for the team again.
As they seek to bolster Amorim’s team, United would greatly benefit if the deal with Barcelona were to go through.
More deals must be financed by exits because Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have commitments of over £130 million.
Given that only Casemiro makes more than his £325,000 weekly pay, the wage bill savings would be substantial even if Rashford’s departure was originally on loan.
