Movements continue in domestic cricket as Karun joins Karnataka in what is a return for him to his home state.
The Indian domestic season continues to see movements around ahead of the upcoming calendar.
For the forthcoming season, 32-year-old Karnataka right-arm medium pacer Vasuki Koushik has decided to relocate to Goa. He is one of the two professional athletes that the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has signed thus far. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has granted Koushik a No Objection Certificate (NoC).
The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has confirmed the switch. “We have signed Koushik. So far, that is the only confirmed transfer. We are exploring a few other options, but no names have been finalised yet,” GCA secretary Shambha Desai told.
The other professional who has played for the Goa team is Arjun Tendulkar. Yashasvi Jaiswal was another player the association had targeted, but the attempt was unsuccessful when the India opener withdrew.
Koushik took 23, 8, and 18 wickets in 10 T20 matches, five Vijay Hazare games, and seven Ranji Trophy matches for Karnataka last season. He might share the new ball with Tendulkar Jr. for Goa, the Ranji Trophy Plate Group winners, in the forthcoming season.
Goa placed fifth in Group A for the Vijay Hazare Trophy and sixth in their group for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Deepraj Gaonkar led the squad in the Mushtaq Ali competition, while Darshan Misal captained the team in the Ranji and Vijay Hazare tournaments.
For the forthcoming season, Karun Nair, the current India No. 3, has been re-signed by Karnataka. He spent a few seasons with Vidarbha, but for personal reasons, he has chosen to go back to his home state.
