Corbin Bosch slapped with demerit point for send-off after dismissing Australia’s Ben Dwarshuis in the 2nd T20i.
South Africa allrounder Corbin Bosch had pointed towards the dugout after dismissing Dwarshuis.
All-rounder Corbin Bosch of South Africa received one demerit point for sending Ben Dwarshuis off during Tuesday’s second Twenty20 International match against Australia.
In the 17th over of Australia’s chase, Bosch removed Dwarshuis and, as the batter stepped back, gestured to the dugout. Bosch acknowledged the violation and agreed to the penalty. Bosch was playing for his country for the eleventh time, and this was his first offence.
Bosch was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC code of conduct for players and support personnel. It relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match”.
With a final score of 3 for 20 from three overs, Bosch helped South Africa win by 53 runs to tie the three-match series.
Dewald Brevis’ undefeated 125 off just 56 balls helped South Africa to 218 for 7 after their batting collapsed in the opening Twenty20 International. Then, when South Africa thrashed Australia for 165, Bosch and Kwena Maphaka both claimed three wickets.
A three-match ODI series will follow the last Twenty20 International on Saturday in Cairns.
