Pant returns to India to see specialist in Mumbai for opinion on his foot injury he suffered in the England series.
Now that he is back in India, Rishabh Pant will shortly travel to Bengaluru to undergo rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence (CoE). The wicketkeeper-batter has been meeting experts for the past several days after breaking his right foot in the fourth Test match against England in Manchester on July 23.
Although the assessment’s specifics are still pending, it seems like Pant (27), one of the best batters in all formats, plans to make a comeback for India in October during their upcoming home series against the West Indies. The white-ball series against Australia in October and November appears to be a serious possibility if that doesn’t occur.
It has been reported that Pant has been in Mumbai for the past three days, seeking advice from medical professionals. After arriving by plane straight from England, he had an evaluation to see how his damaged foot was doing. It is still thought to be strapped. It is believed that he was given a timeframe by city doctors to return to the CoE for rehabilitation.
On the opening day of the Manchester (fourth) Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Pant was forced to quit in agony after being struck on the foot by a delivery from Chris Woakes. He was batting on 37 at the time of the injury.
But because of the injury, he was unable to play in the fifth and final Test match at the Oval, which India won to tie the series. Pant is thought to have returned to India just a few days ago, having remained in England following the series’ conclusion. Pant has been sharing updates on his recuperation on social media since he was hurt.
Perhaps it is understandable that Pant would voice such a profoundly philosophical idea given the string of severe defeats he has had in both his career and personal life. Despite suffering a severe knee injury that kept him out of commission for more than a year, he miraculously avoided a near-fatal collision in 2022. Prior to his most recent defeat in Manchester, he had been unable to keep wicket due to a finger injury sustained during the third Test at Lord’s.
