Man City dismiss a bar worker wearing a Man United shirt as he was shown serving pint in social media post.
A barman who served beverages at the Etihad Stadium during Sunday’s derby while sporting a Manchester United shirt was fired by Man City.
A post on X from an account called @Mataniels informed the club about the employee. The caption said, ‘Absolute joke @ManCity – letting one of the bar staff in block 315 wear a United shirt on Derby Day #mcfc’, and it featured a picture of the man in question passing over a pint while sporting a black shirt with a visible United club emblem.
City’s fan support account messaged back: “Thank you for making us aware of this. We can confirm that this individual has now been removed from their position.”
It’s possible that some X replies pushed back against the message showcasing the employee wearing the clothing, which is why the @Mataniels account is no longer active. City chose not to respond.
With two goals from Erling Haaland and one from Phil Foden, City won the 197th Manchester derby 3-0.
