
Sean Williams released from Zimbabwe T20 squad due to personal reasons, with Clive Madande taking his place.
The Zimbabwean team participating in the Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Final has cut Sean Williams. Zimbabwe called up Clive Madande to replace the 39-year-old hitter, who was dismissed for personal reasons.
Zimbabwe, the tournament’s host, defeated Uganda by five wickets in their opening game on Friday. In their chase of 153, which they reached with 15 balls left, Brian Bennett hit a 72 from 44 balls, while Brad Evans and Blessing Muzarabani both claimed three wickets. Williams didn’t participate in the game.
Eight nations are competing in the tournament: Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. The top two teams advance to the T20 World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka in February and March of 2026.
